Dissemination of IEC materials by involving women from the local community
Summary
This report by SaciWATERs presents an initiative to disseminate Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials by actively involving women from local communities in the Sundarbans region. It shows how women’s empowerment and community participation are central to supporting inclusive development, strengthening leadership, and improving livelihoods in climate-affected areas.
The activity forms part of the ARA-supported project on menstrual health and climate change. Women from diverse social and religious backgrounds lead dissemination efforts through wall paintings in public spaces and digital platforms.
By engaging women’s groups in Gosaba and Patharpratima blocks, the initiative promotes collective responsibility, skill development, and community awareness on menstrual health. The process not only builds leadership capacity among women but also encourages community-wide participation in addressing sensitive health issues, ensuring a more holistic and locally driven approach to communication and adaptation.
