Summary

This report presents a detailed context analysis of urban resilience challenges in informal settlements in Ajmer, India, to inform the piloting of the SECURe decision support framework with a strong emphasis on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion.

Using participatory methods and extensive engagement with communities, local institutions and civil society, it documents vulnerabilities related to water, sanitation, governance, livelihoods and climate change, with particular attention to gendered impacts and social exclusion.

The findings demonstrate that integrating GESI into resilience planning strengthens community engagement, improves the relevance of proposed solutions, and supports more inclusive and context‑responsive urban resilience strategies for informal settlements.
