Least Developed Country (LDC) and the National Adaptation Programme for action‑oriented adaptation research
Summary
The LDC and National Adaptation Programme enable funders to support action‑oriented adaptation research in Least Developed Countries. Led by the Adaptation Research Alliance, the programme was co‑designed through a global co‑creation process engaging universities, policymakers, researchers, and practitioners from LDCs.
The programme strengthens the role of LDC universities in generating evidence that informs national adaptation policies and practices. It focuses on building institutional capacity, strengthening knowledge systems, and improving collaboration between research, policy, and practice.
A core objective is to support nationally led and equitable adaptation through transdisciplinary research and sustained partnerships. The programme is guided by the LDC Universities Consortium on Climate Change and contributes to long‑term adaptation action aligned with national priorities.
