Summary

This project presentation outlines a climate adaptation initiative in Nyabihu District, Rwanda, focused on strengthening the adaptive capacity of farming communities, young professionals and local institutions. Through training programmes, farmer‑to‑farmer exchanges, community awareness activities and hands‑on sessions in agroforestry, tree nursery establishment and climate‑resilient land management, the project delivered practical skills and measurable results.

Key achievements include planting 4,000 agroforestry trees and 500 fruit trees, training 20 young professionals and 22 farmers and extension agents, establishing one tree nursery, engaging six cooperatives and mobilising 120 youth volunteers.

The report also highlights cross‑sectoral stakeholder involvement, alignment with Rwanda’s national climate strategies and future opportunities for expanding erosion control, soil testing and sustainable seedling production.
