Albert Salamanca

Senior Research Fellow and Head of Secretariat, ARA

Albert M. Salamanca is a Senior Research Fellow at the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) Asia Centre, where his work focuses on climate change, disasters, and development and their intersections. He has over twenty years of experience working across Southeast Asia on climate adaptation, resilience, disaster risk reduction, and sustainable livelihoods, with a strong emphasis on translating evidence into policy and practice. His work consistently bridges research, policy processes, and on-the-ground action to address climate and disaster risks, strengthen livelihoods, and enhance socio-ecological resilience. He holds a PhD in Geography from Durham University (UK) and currently serves as Head of the Secretariat of the Adaptation Research Alliance (ARA), a global coalition advancing action-oriented adaptation research. He is also a co-investigator on the project Climate Change Adaptation, Dispossession and Displacement: Co-constructing Solutions with Coastal Vulnerable Groups in Africa and Asia.
