The reasons for and goals of the ARA
Climate change is impacting many countries. There is an urgent need for coordinated global efforts to assist communities in adapting to this change - and the impacts it brings.
The Adaptation Research Alliance (ARA) is stepping up to that challenge in order to bridge the gap between research and action.
Bringing together diverse representation from within the adaptation community, the ARA links researchers, funders, policymakers, development bodies and community-based organisations that support a paradigm shift in the way adaptation solutions are generated.
“If we need to scale up research - action research - research that connects to implementation, research that works, gets out of the lab gets into the field, works with farmers, work with local communities that are struggling to cope with climate risks, if you need to do that, we need to really scale up investment.” Dr. Anand Parwardhan, University of Maryland
