Walaa Gad Elkarim

Dr. Walaa is a prominent expert in the fields of Social and Environmental Standards , Human rights, and sustainable development. With a career spanning several years, Dr. Walaa has made significant contributions to various programs and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of communities and promoting responsible practices.

Since January 2018,Dr Walaa has been serving as the Lead Expert for the Social and Environmental Safeguards component at the Upper Egypt Local Development Program, which is funded by the World Bank. Dr Walaa also is a member at Egyptian Human Rights Council since December 2021 , as well as he is the ecacutive director for Decent LIfe program unit  ( the presidential initiative fore rural developmemt) 

In this roles , Dr.Walaa  has a comulative experiences  in  implementation of standards and risk management measures related to social and environmental factors n  appling  national and international standards, such as the World Bank Social and Environmental Framework, IFC Performance Standards, and Equator Principles, in alignment with Egyptian regulations on environment, labor, occupational health and safety, land acquisition, CSR, and climate change strategies. as well as ddressing human rights violations and working alongside national and international stakeholders to promote human rights reforms.

As a co-founder of Estdamaa, , Dr.Walaa has contributed significantly to the design and implementation of social studies, policy briefs, and the development of indicators and study tools. 

Throughout his  career, Dr. Walaa has demonstrated exceptional leadership and coordination skills, managing large-scale programs with multiple sub-projects and diverse teams. his  ability to engage stakeholders effectively has resulted in successful collaborations and the achievement of program objectives.
