Marta Olazabal
Head of Adaptation Research Group
Dr Marta Olazabal is an interdisciplinary scientist exploring pathways of progress on climate action in cities worldwide. She is an Ikerbasque Research Associate and Head of the Adaptation Research Group at the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3). Dr. Olazabal has a background in Environmental Engineering, a PhD in Land Economy and around 20 years of experience in urban sustainability and climate governance. She is interested in local climate planning and transdisciplinary knowledge production. Her current work focuses on the assessment of climate adaptation progress at the local scale. Dr Olazabal has an extensive publication record in top international peer-reviewed journals, actively advises national and international bodies and mentors MSc and PhD students. Since 2020, she has been a member of the Steering Committee of the International Platform on Adaptation Metrics (IPAM). She is now the Principal Investigator of the European Research Council project IMAGINE Adaptation.
