As a policy officer at NWO I am involved in national and international research programmes. WOTRO programs, funds and facilitates scientific research for inclusive global development. WOTRO programs focus on sustainable solutions to social and environmental problems in low- and middle-income countries. Knowledge can be a catalyst for change. Innovative insights from research can contribute to solutions for the many challenges we face today – from climate change and infectious diseases to food insecurity and polluted oceans. However, systematically applying research results – or translating scientific knowledge into action and impact – remains a major challenge. Within NWO I contribute to policy regarding the impact of research. In national programs such as the National Science Agenda and the Knowledge and Innovation Covenant and international programs such as the Merian Fund and JPI Climate. And in collaboration with researchers, policy officers and partner organizations in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America.
